You have now completed your triathlon, are you the winner, have you beaten your fellow competitors or are you over the moon because you have no injuries and you did it faster than your predicted time, either one is a personal triumph; all the long hours of training have paid off.
1. When the marshals direct you into the finish chute there is a great sense of achievement, your family and friends will be there to greet you, it’s a good idea to move your sunglasses to the top of your head so the photographer can get a good shot of you and your facial expression.
2. As you cross the finish line keep on moving down the chute into the athletes holding area here you will be able to get refreshments. There is a finish podium in this area so as soon as the third man or woman crosses the finish line the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female will be presented with their awards, but after that it’s your turn to mount the podium and get your photo taken by family and friends.
3. Remember you will not be able to get into transition at this stage but you will be able to collect your bag and jacket from the drop point in the marquee. Now that you are finished it’s time to start planning your next triathlon. Hang around in the Finish area and mingle with the other competitors exchanging your experience from the race. Everyone has a great story to tell after an event, yours of course will be different.
4. Make your way over to the City Hotel for something to eat and for the awards ceremony, by this stage you will be more relaxed so enjoy the awards, you never know you may be up for an award but you will definitely be back next year.
